Introduction

We will also discuss the factors influencing one’s response to grief and the development of nursing care plans for patients and families experiencing loss and grief. Collaboration with family members and interdisciplinary teams in palliative care, symptom management at the end of life, hospice care criteria, postmortem care, and the nurse’s own experience of grief when caring for dying patients will be addressed. Lastly, we will explore methods for nurse self-care in the context of grief and loss.

Factors Influencing Grief Response: Understand the variables that influence how individuals respond to grief, including cultural, socioeconomic, and developmental factors.

Nursing Care Plan: Develop a comprehensive nursing care plan tailored to patients and families dealing with loss and grief.

Collaboration in Palliative Care: Identify strategies for collaborating with family members and interdisciplinary teams to provide palliative care.

Symptom Management: Describe interventions for managing symptoms in patients at the end of life.

Hospice Care Criteria: Discuss the criteria for hospice care and the role of nurses in this specialized form of care.

Kübler-Ross Stages of Dying: Describes five stages of dying, including denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance.
