Describe the perception of death according to Christian faith

Describe the perception of death according to Christian faith
According to the Christian faith, death is not the end of life, but the beginning of a new and eternal life with God. Christians believe that God created humans in his image and gave them the gift of life, but that sin entered the world through the disobedience of Adam and Eve, and brought death as its consequence. Death is therefore the result of sin, and the enemy of God and his people. However, God did not abandon humanity to death, but sent his Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for the sins of the world, and to rise again from the dead on the third day. By his death and resurrection, Jesus defeated death and opened the way for all who believe in him to have eternal life.

Christians understand death as a transition from this mortal and fallen world to a glorious and immortal one, where they will be with God forever. Death is not something to be feared, but to be faced with hope and faith in God’s promises. Christians also believe that there will be a final resurrection of the dead at the end of time, when Jesus will return to judge the living and the dead, and to establish his kingdom of righteousness and peace. At that time, those who belong to Christ will receive new bodies that are incorruptible and immortal, and will inherit the new heavens and the new earth that God has prepared for them.

Some of the biblical passages that support the Christian perception of death are:

– **Genesis 2:16-17**: And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “You may surely eat of every tree of the garden, but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”
– **Romans 5:12**: Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned.
– **John 3:16**: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
– **1 Corinthians 15:20-26**: But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive. But each in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, then at his coming those who belong to Christ. Then comes the end, when he delivers the kingdom to God the Father after destroying every rule and every authority and power. For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. The last enemy to be destroyed is death.
– **Revelation 21:1-4**: Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
