Measuring patient outcomes results in the generation of data that can be used to improve results. Nursing informatics can have a significant part in this process and can help to improve outcomes by improving processes, identifying at-risk patients, and enhancing efficiency.

Nursing informatics is essential in the medical field since it reduces medical errors and improves decision-making. Emerging technologies can fortify the nursing informatics by increasing the precision of diagnosis and enhanced accuracy (Booth, 2016). Artificial intelligence is used to increase the precision of medical decision since it analyzes the data in Electronic Health Records. It also helps in easier detection of diseases (Liao, Hsu, Chu & Chu, 2015). For example, artificial intelligence is used to rapidly and accurately identify cancerous cells for immediate therapy to begin. In normal situations, cancerous cells may go unnoticed over a long period. Application of artificial intelligence is thus essential in nursing informatics since it increases the accuracy of decisions.
Artificial intelligence has led to the development of robot-assisted surgery that enables healthcare providers to complete surgical operations with precision and flexibility. It also reduces the cost of medical procedures, complication, and pain associated with surgery (Collins, 2016). Therefore, it fortifies nursing informatics since it can be used in the integration of data, information, and knowledge during surgery. One of the desires of nurses is to reduce scarring among surgery patients (Collins, 2016). The application of robots in the healthcare provision increases the quality of patient outcomes.
Bio-printing is used to reduce the shortage of organs that are used during life-saving transplants. For example, Organovo Company developed a liver through bio-printing. The liver is used today in drug testing development research studies. Therefore, bio-printing supports nursing informatics since it provides accurate information for better decision-making (Collins, 2016). Additionally, it helps in better integration of data, knowledge, and information to make better health outcomes (Booth, 2016). Therefore, various emerging technologies can be used in the healthcare sector to fortify nursing informatics.
